Veganism way of life; healthy weightloss lifestyle

Veganism is a vegetarian diet that excludes meat, dairy products, eggs and all animal-derived ingredients (including foods processed with animal products). It is a way of living which frowns at all forms of exploitation of animals for food, clothing and any other purpose deemed cruel. Veganism is a plant-based diet that avoids all animal foods.

Veganism shares similarities with raw foodism that makes people use them interchangeably but they aren’t the same. While raw foodism may permit the consumption of raw or fairly cooked (under low temperature) eggs and meat, veganism does not allow anything remotely connected to animal products. Vegans are not just vegetarians who don’t eat meat, fish or poultry; they go the extra mile of not using animal products or even by-products such as honey, eggs, dairy products, fur, silk, animal products based cosmetics and soap, leather, etc.

A healthy vegan diet includes fruits, veggies, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and legumes. Most people question a vegan’s source of protein. It should be noted that most fruits and veggies provide some protein. This means that a vegan diet meets the recommendation for protein as long as calorie intake is adequate. Here are some vegan based protein sources;

  • Lentils
  • Peanut butter
  • Soy milk
  • Almonds
  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Kale
  • Potatoes
  • Peas

Vegan diets are cholesterol-free and low in saturated fat. This reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and some forms of cancer.

  • WEIGHT LOSS: a vegan diet is great if you want to lose weight and stay in shape. This is due to the reduced amounts of saturated fats consumed. Most plant-food contains far fewer calories and far more nutrients than animal-foods. Cutting out meat and dairy products over a long run ensures weight loss. A vegan diet reduces the Body Mass Index (BMI). A whole plant-food makes it much easier to eat less yet have the feeling of being full.
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduced risk of type 2 diabetes
  • Improved cardiovascular health
  • Lower cancer risks
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Makes the skin glow
  • Reduces body odor and bad breadth.
