Actress, comedian, writer, producer and fashion designer, Melissa Ann McCarthy, born on 26th of August 1970, began appearing in movies in the late 1990s. Her first TV appearance was made in an episode of the NBC comedy series ‘Jenny’. She gained nationwide recognition for her role as Sookie St. James in the series ‘Gilmore Girls” (2000-2007). She has since starred in several series, sitcoms and comedy films.
Melissa was born in Plainfield, Illinios a surburb of Chicago. Professional basketball player Joanne McCarthy and actress and model, Jenny McCarthy are her cousins. On October 8, 2005, Melissa married her longtime boyfriend, actor and alumnus of ‘The Groundlings’, Ben Falcone. Together they have two daughters, Vivian and Georgette.
Over the years, Melissa McCarthy has been able to bag a few awards and nominations. She has won 20 out of the 74 nominations she has received. We could go on and on about her accomplishments but the most talked about one seems to be her sporadic weight loss.

- Eat healthy: everyone knows that in order to lose some pounds you have to lose some carbs. Let go of the carbohydrates and the many junk foods you consume. Focus solely on a regimen of eating salads and lean proteins. Melissa McCarthy’s weight loss happened because she changed her diet to a low-carb, high-fat and high-protein diet. Beyond all these, she drinks water with lemon; this is known to detoxify the body. You should go for it as well.
- Change your hobby: some hobbies are just not healthy for you if you’re struggling with overweight. Those hobbies that give you time to lounge around are simply unacceptable in this weight loss journey. Pick up sporty hobbies that keep you active all the time.
